Dave - British Bulldog
Weight loss & Hindlimb Stiffness
Starting weight: 36.0kg
Today's weight: 25.6kg
Total weight loss: 10.40kg
Dave was referred to our clinic in early 2022 for weight loss and hindlimb stiffness. We created a specific rehabilitation plan which included a combination of diet management, home adaptations, exercise modulation & canine Hydrotherapy in our Underwater Treadmill.
Reduced Pain score and Improved quality of life
Increased muscle mass
Improved tone and strength
This young man was rescued by his human at 10 months old & since then Dave has gone on a journey of improved physical and psychological wellbeing. Weight loss was essential to improve his functional gait, reduce over compensatory issues and improve his cardiovascular fitness.
Dave started his fitness journey with a raw 80/10/10 diet and then commenced Underwater Treadmill therapy initially once a week, but is now on a maintenance regime. To date, Dave has lost 11kg and his walks have increased from 8 minute lead based walks, to 40-60 minutes daily as a result of his weight loss and increased muscle bulk through his hind limbs. He also recently won an award for an exercise challenge with Pitpat!
In addition, Dave is no longer on any analgesia since reaching his Rehabilitation goals and continues to attend for maintenance sessions to prevent deterioration in range of movement, monitor and manage pain levels and maintain his increased muscle bulk, muscle tone, joint range of movement, general wellbeing and cardiovascular fitness.

Dyfri was referred 1.5 years ago after showing a decline in her mobility, increased pain score and reduced quality of life as a result of her multi limb arthritis. Dyfri also had co-morbities which included kidney disease requiring careful monitoring and an adaptive rehabilitation plan as a result.
Attending weekly, Dyfri managed to continue to have a high quality of life for a further 1.5 years. Not only did Dyfri improve physically, but mentally also. Her mentation improved, she started to play with her toys again, and her mobility greatly benefited from Hydrotherapy in the Hydrotherapy Pool and Aquatic Treadmill.
With regular Hydrotherapy and Veterinary Physiotherapy in addition to reducing her analgesia, she had an improved range of movement, increased muscle tone, reduced pain levels & improved cardiovascular fitness.
